Pillars are currently proving very popular in Adelaide for front fencing situations, used in conjunction with both brush and wrought iron panels. Often low, capped masonry walls are used between pillars as a base for the iron or brush work. Brush can also be set on a conventional concrete plinth with considerable cost saving over the construction of a capped wall. Pillars are often used as an improvement to an existing brush fencing and gateway situation. Skill tradesmen are required to cut the openings in the fence and reinstate and marry the brushwork to the pillar profiles.
